We’ve seen a lot of ban appeals lately written by individuals who claim that their account had been hacked and used for cheating and then banned by BF4DB. 

In 2018, it’s as important as ever to secure your online identity, including game accounts. There are several ways to do this, and using multiple methods further improves your online security. 

One option (and arguably the best) is using Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) with either a text message or app authenticator (such as the app Authy for example). This has been an option for your Origin account for some time now and is always recommended by us as well as EA to secure your account. Another way to protect yourself is by using a strong password utilizing a combination of mixed case characters, numbers, and symbols. Also, the longer the better. If you don’t know what to use, there are many password generators out there you can use to create a secure password. 

Lastly, using different passwords for different things adds yet another layer of complexity for hackers. If you use the same password for your Origin account as you do for your email account, then once the hacker has access to one, they have access to both and can change your information. Changing your password occasionally also helps the cause. 

While all of this may seem common sense to some of you, it’s the first time that others have heard it. 

Ultimately, your account is your responsibility and there’s no excuse with all of the security tools out there to have a vulnerable account. As such, any appeal that is based on the premise that the account has been hacked will be denied.

It’s not that we don’t believe you, it’s that hackers use that excuse all the time, too. We apologize for any inconvenience.
